30 Day Rehab

A 30-day reset — done well, it changes everything.

The 30-day inpatient program is the most common starting point for residential treatment in America. Done thoughtfully — with medical detox, daily therapy, dual-diagnosis care, and a real step-down plan — it can be the turning point that leads to lifelong recovery.

Thirty days is enough to interrupt the cycle. Whether it is enough for you depends on what comes after.

What 30 days covers

A 30-day program at Valor Health typically begins with 3 to 10 days of medical detox (if needed), followed by 20 to 27 days of full residential programming. You receive daily individual and group therapy, weekly psychiatry, holistic and experiential work, family weekends, and a structured aftercare plan built before you leave. Most patients also begin medication-assisted treatment during this stay if it is clinically indicated.

  • Medical detox (if needed)
  • 20+ days of residential programming
  • Daily individual & group therapy
  • Aftercare plan before discharge

Is 30 days enough?

Honestly: for some patients yes, for many no. Thirty days is enough to interrupt the cycle, complete detox, stabilize co-occurring conditions, learn early relapse-prevention skills, and re-engage with family. It is rarely enough for severe trauma processing, complex polysubstance use, or patients with multiple prior treatment episodes — those patients usually benefit from 60 to 90 days. Our clinical team will discuss this honestly with you and your family.

  • Often enough for first-episode treatment
  • Often not enough for severe trauma
  • Length is a clinical, not insurance, decision
  • Step-down to PHP/IOP extends the work

Clinical content of your 30 days

Your days follow a structured rhythm: morning movement (yoga, breathwork, fitness), individual therapy 3 times per week, multiple group sessions (process, skills, psychoeducation, trauma-informed), weekly psychiatry, evening community time. We use the modalities that work — EMDR, IFS, DBT, CBT, somatic experiencing — and the ones that resonate for each patient.

  • Individual therapy 3x/week
  • Multiple daily groups
  • Weekly psychiatry
  • Holistic & experiential therapy
Family week

Family week

Most 30-day programs include a structured family week in the third week, with multi-day family therapy sessions, education on addiction and codependency, and structured exercises that help families begin to rebuild trust. For long-distance families we offer virtual family weeks with the same content.

  • Multi-day family intensive
  • Codependency & boundary education
  • Structured trust-rebuilding work
  • Virtual format available

Cost & insurance

Most major insurance plans — Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, TRICARE — cover 30-day residential treatment when medically necessary. Our admissions team verifies your benefits in minutes, explains your out-of-pocket cost in plain English, and works with out-of-network plans (which often have surprisingly good coverage) as well as private-pay options.

  • Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, UHC, Humana, TRICARE
  • Out-of-network often covered
  • Free benefit verification (minutes)
  • Private pay & financing options
Step-down after 30 days

What happens after day 30

The single biggest predictor of long-term recovery is what happens immediately after residential discharge. We do not let you fall off a cliff. Every 30-day patient steps down into PHP, IOP, or our intensive outpatient track — with the same therapy team, alumni community access, medication management, and family programming. Treatment becomes less intense, never less intentional.

  • Step-down to PHP or IOP
  • Alumni community access
  • Continued therapy & medication
  • Sober living option
